Anat FRITz
Fritz's work operates at the intersection of sculpture and environment, treating sculpture as a physical presence that defines space through form and structure. Anat Fritz was never content to follow the crowd. As a child growing up, she felt and looked different from other kids - making her own clothes, cutting her own hair, and wearing perfume typically worn by much older women.
"I was rebellious. I always stuck out a little bit from the collective," Fritz recalls. "As a child, you really want to fit in, but I was never really fitting in. From my point of view now, I would call it avant-garde, but as a child it was a difficult thing for me. Today, it's a good thing and I'm happy about it, but back then it was rather frustrating when all you want is to be like the others." "I dressed differently. I made my own stuff. I sneaked out of my bed at night, turned my light on in the room, and then started to cut my clothes, my bags, my hair. Whatever could be cut, modified, or ripped apart got cut, modified, or ripped apart, and then put back together my way." This childhood impatience to create - even with the most ordinary materials - sparked Fritz's obsession with crafting shapes from seemingly nothing. These shapeless and lifeless forms gradually evolved into a powerful artistic expression, driven by her deep passion for resin and its remarkable ability to transform the mundane into a captivating portrayal of her artistic vision:
HARD SILK™ Material Innovation Patent.
HARD SILK™ represents a breakthrough in sculptural materials, combining the structural integrity of industrial materials with the organic qualities of natural fibers. The medium consists of resin-cured silk skinned onto stainless-steel frameworks, allowing softness and rigidity to coexist within self-supporting forms.
